Viva Le France!

With the election of conservative Sarkozy, many are deciding the French aren't so bad after all. Of course, they never were. Like us, they are a diverse society of liberal and conservative members, being overtaken by a radical minority who is overwhelming their culture. (Muslims in France, Spanish speakers in US). I first learned to respect the French when I read "Street Without Joy" by Bernard Fall. This is a classic book about the loss of North Vietnam to the Communists in 1954. The accounts of the incredible sacrifice of the French and the French Army against the Communists is amazing. The heroism and sacrifice of men, material, and money are not remembered nor appreciated. Just like the US, there is a long-suffering minority of noble people who are willing to put their lives on the line for freedom. Give this classic a read.

Anyway, here are a few reasons to love the French.

-- They sank the Greenpeace boat, "Rainbow Warrior". I told my children about this yesterday and they busted out laughing. With those who practice homosexual behavior co-opting the word "rainbow" to mean queer, their first mental image was that of the less-than-masculine denizens of floats at the endless "Gay Pride" parades being warriors. Remember that the head Greenpeace lunkhead wishes to reduce the world's population from 6 billion to 1 billion. My reply is "You go first." Thank you France!
-- Sacked and burned Moscow. 'Nuff said.
-- Gave us the Statue of Liberty.
-- Aided the creation of the United States by sending money, troops and ships. The help the French gave us cannot be over-estimated.
-- Montaigne. Read his essays and works and stand in awe of his genius. Compare him to Al Gore or George Bush and hang your head in shame.
-- Architecture and Literature. Breathtaking!
-- Recognizing Jerry Lewis for the genius he is.
-- They keep up our military cemeteries with pride and elan. (French word)
-- Sidewalk cafe's in Paris in the Autumn. May Starbucks owners burn in Hell!
-- 4 day work weeks. Exactly why do we work so many hours in the US? Oh yeah, to enjoy our families, travel and live the good life. Too bad we don't have any time to do any of these.

Hooray for France!
